Featured Friday Week #2: SAE author's Liv Morris, Danielle Torella, and Beth Michele

Pretty in Pink as an official blogger for the Stamford Author Event, is excited to bring you three of the great authors who will be participating in the SAE on August 10, 2013!   This week joining us I have Liv Morris, Danielle Torella, and Beth Michele!

First up, we have the fabulous Danielle Torella!

Bio

Danielle lives in Western New York with her husband and two sons.  Never knew she had a dream to become a writer until she started becoming obsessed with reading in the past two years.  The obsession began with Twilight and then matured to Fifty Shades.  While used to reading mainstream bestsellers, found a new love for indie authors.  She loves to do paintings related to the books she reads and eventually turning into Pushy Girl Paintings and now does work for other indie writers and readers.  Her first book idea started from a dream she had one night and became obsessed with the story and started writing.  Now having arguments with the people in her head and loving every moment of it, even when they take control of the story.  She is the author of Private Message.

Danielle also put together the trailer for the SAE!

Next up this week is the lovely Liv Morris, short story author, who has her debut novel coming out in July 2013.

Bio

At the age of fourteen, Liv Morris opened up the classic book, Jane Eyre. The characters and love
story written by Charlotte Brontë flipped a switch inside of her and a life-long lover of reading was
born.
Liv resides in Manhattan with her husband of twenty-eight years. They have three grown daughters
who are scattered across the United States. She was raised in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of
southern Missouri and received a communications degree from the University of Maryland.
Her first short story, Magic at Macy’s, was published in 2012 and reached #583 overall in the paid
Kindle store in Amazon. She decided to continue writing more short stories in a series titled, Love in
the City. Her next two installments in the series, Perfect Strangers and The Panty Dropper, both
ranked as best sellers. The Panty Dropper reached #283 over all in the paid Kindle store as well as
#65 on the best selling list in Contemporary Romance.
Her latest installment in the series, The Love Handles Club, was published on April 23, 2013 and
already ranks as a short story best seller. The final installment in the series, Drunk & Disorderly, will
hit the presses in June 2013. A Love in the City compilation book of the series is set for publication
in early July 2013.
Currently, Liv is working on her debut novel Adam’s Apple with a July 2013 date set for
publication.

Excerpt from Adam's Apple

Prologue

March 23rd, 2005. Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.

The sky shines a bright blue but my heart is gray and turning as black as the dirt I'm holding in my hands. I squeeze my fingers so tightly they shake and bits of grit embed themselves in my palms.

My task is customary, common among men. But the woman I mourn today was anything but common. She was brilliant, wise, and beautiful.

Now she's gone. . . Forever.

Sorrow will no longer consume her heart and soul.  Instead it has passed onto me.

I toss the black dirt into the dark and musty smelling grave and fall to me knees after hearing the impact against the wood below.

All I love is now six feet below me but it might as well be a million miles away.

The distance will never be broached this side of heaven but it can be avenged. I will make sure of one thing: The hell she endured will be shared by the one who inflicted it.

Returning to the hearse with a slow stride, I see a man raise the tinted window of his black limo as the vehicle pulls away disappearing into the rainy mist. I know who he is; the photo she asked to be buried with tells me everything I need to know.

He and I have a moral debt to settle because he took the joy and life away from the woman I’m leaving behind today in this cold and wet cemetery. She was my mother . . . My selfless life-giver and I owe her everything.

After graduating from the University of South Alabama, Scarlett Moore finds out her boyfriend of five months is actually married with a kid on the way.  Feeling used and heartbroken she decides it's time to take her best friend Jules' advice to move in with her, but she'll have to move to Atlanta.  There, Jules helps her get a job at Entertainment Atlanta where she works as an entertainment insurance agent.  It's nothing Scarlett dreamed of doing with her life, but it's better than not having a job at all and who wouldn't mind working with famous people, right?

But then she gets assigned EA's newest client Kade Evans, rock star turned actor.  Not only is he a drug addict, he's also known for never dating the same girl twice.  He's tall, dark, and handsome, has an amazing voice, and good acting skills, but he's also arrogant and intense.

After their first meeting the chemisty between them is undeniable.

The love that comes later is unexpected.

But KAde's life is full of secrets.  His past has now become his present and when Scarlett finds out what his secrets are, deception hits.

Excerpt

Kade captured my mouth in a hard kiss then stood up, taking off his jeans and boxers.

"Stand up, Scarlett," he commanded as he kicked his clothes out of the way.

I looked at him with wide eyes, wondering what he was going to do.  I got up from the couch and stood next to him, staring him in the eyes.  The look he was giving me was pure, unadulterated lust.  The butterflies in my stomach were going crazy.

"Take your clothes offthen get on your knees on the edge of the couch and lean forward," he commanded as he started stroking his lenght back and forth.

I just stood there and watched him.  He was so beautiful.  I was mesmerized by the movement of his hands.  I licked my lips wanting to drop to my knees so I could please him again.

"Now, Scarlett," he growled at me.

Not wasting another minute, I lifted the t-shirt over my head and hurriedly took off my panties, watching him stroke himself the entire time.  Kicking my soaked panties out of the way, I turned and kneeled on the edge of the cushion and braced my hands on the back of the couch.

"Like this," I asked, turning my head to look behind me.

"Spread your knees further apart."

I did as he instructed.

"Yeah, baby, just like that," he said roughly as he moved closer behind me.

Blurb

Seventeen-year-old Emmy O'Connell is the epitome of a hot mess.

Her boyfriend's been shipped out of town to some boarding school four states away.  Her step douche is constantly drunk and badgering her.  And then there's her good-ole-mom...The lady is nothing more than a miserable shell of a woman.  She's turned off all of her feelings and her ability to be a good mother as well, leaving poor Emmy and her four year old brother Jamie to suffer.  Life couldn't get much worse, right?

Enter the elusive, cocky, and oh-so-broody Jack Hartman.

The jerk cousin of her boyfriend becomes Emmy's worst nightmare...times ten.  He's cruel.  He's insensitive. But he also has this strange little ability over her - he makes her weak in the knees with the single touch of his hand.  But no matter how miserable or amazing Jack makes her feel, Emmy can't seem to deny him, especially when he takes on the role of her protector - her psuedo-knight in a black leather coat.  A knight who also just so happens to ride in on his black Harley, instead of a white horse...

And to make a bad situation worse...

Werewolves and teens shouldn't mix!  But what can Emmy do when she finds herself thrown head first into the center of it all?  Can she handle the supernatural mess her life rapidly becomes or will she fight against the inevitable fate her heart desires?

About the author

Heather Van Fleet currently resides in northern Illinois, with her three little ladies, and fabulous hubby, and high school sweetheart, Chris.  She's a stay at home mom by day, and an avid and completely obsessive writer and reader by night.

She's always had a soft spot in her heart for books, and has been creating her own little stories since the age of seven.  But she never really had the confidence or the time to actually sit down and really do something about it until her youngest daughter Isabella was born just two years ago.  Bella, as well as her older sisters Kelsey and Emma, are and always will be her greatest inspirations.

Sounds like another great read from Heather, can't wait to check it out!
